Remembering Doug Williams

Editor’s Note:  ERC Club Member Doug Williams was struck and killed by a hit and run driver on 10/9/2011.

Remember Doug Williams . . .

– Lynne Mortimer

Doug Williams was one of the nicest, sweetest, most unassuming, and downright funny people I have ever met. And a terrific runner to boot. I met him when he first joined the club 10 plus years ago. He set his sights on long distance running and was very focused on qualifying for Boston. When he did several years ago, I sent him a private email congratulating him on his success. He wrote back almost immediately, thanking me for recognizing his achievement-He was most appreciative and proud. He was also proud to receive the awards he did from Essex. It meant allot to him to be recognized by his peers and fellow runners. We were like family to him. I will miss his grin, his gentle ways, and being able to see him crossing paths between Grove and Fleet Feet on Sunday group runs. As already stated, he will forever run in our hearts. He will be deeply missed.
