USATF Grand Finale 10-Miler Results

by Phil Coffin, 12/11/2011, West Windsor, NJ

Winter racing doesn’t get any more accommodating than it was Sunday at the USATF
Grand Finale 10-Miler at Mercer County Park in West Windsor. A small group of
ERC runners were among the nearly 300 finishers in the final USATF race of the
year. As the finale, the race drew many big guns, so there were plenty of fast
times.

Amanda King won her age group in the race and looks to have surged ahead to win
her USATF yearlong age-group championship. (Final USATF standings are scheduled
to come out Tuesday.) Nice going, Amanda!

A small pack of us were running close together throughout the race. About midway
through, we passed a couple of guys and one said, “It’s a sea of Essex!” Yes, it
was the red sea of ERC.

ERC finishers (apologies for anyone I may have missed):

Harold Porcher, 1:01:33
Larry Czaplewski, 1:02:06
Charlie Slaughter, 1:07:03
Amanda King, 1:10:33 (1st AG)
Dave Gurniak, 1:15:06
Phil Coffin, 1:15:31
Stephen Sands, 1:15:36
Mona Jha, 1:15:39
Gerald Velli, 1:15:58
