President’s Corner: Spotlight on our activities and the refurbished Orange Reservoir on Cherry Lane, West Orange

The late spring and early summer of the ERC are usually quite busy times.  Keep those racing accounts and stories coming in.

Check out the account of the Montclair 10K and 2 Mile on June 1st. Special thanks to the Montclair Y (Carol Kearney) and Montclair Recreation for recognizing our club’s 30th Anniversary at the race.  One of the highlights of the morning was Troy Powell, Club Membership Director and Montclair Firefighter running the race in full gear.

Be sure to drop Tom Eaton a line if you can volunteer at Junior Youth Track Series on June 29th, July 13th, and July 27th.  Check out information in other parts of this newsletter.

My hosted run on June 25th will also serve as an “informal meeting” for members to spotlight their spring races.  See the list of hosted runs in this issue.

Are you looking for a different place to train? Well, a really nice place is in our own neighborhood.  You’re going to fall in love with the newly finished 1.7 mile path around the Orange Reservoir on Cherry Lane in West Orange.  The new path is beautiful and has access to the Eagle Rock and South Mountain Reservation Trails in the area.  Our hosted runs on July 10th and 24th will be held here.  The meeting place is at the Picnic Area and Boathouse on Cherry Lane (around the corner from McLoone’s).  Check out the following link:

As we go to press, special thanks to John and Faye Harvey for hosting the Wine and Cheese Party at their beautiful home on this past Saturday night on June 21st.  A good time was had by all.

Coming soon:  Information on Speedwork Sessions in August and September!

We’ll see you on the trails, roads, and races.

Consider yourself at home…one of the family…one of us!
