Meet Tony Nogueira – World-Class Wheelchair Racer, Artist, and Glen Ridge Resident: September 15

If you’ve ever driven (or run) down Ridgewood Avenue in Glen Ridge, chances are you’ve seen Tony Nogueira training for his next race—and his son biking not far ahead. He competed for the United States in the 1992 Barcelona Paralympics and for Portugal, his homeland, in the 1996 Atlanta Paralympics. He’s raced in the New York City Marathon, Boston Marathon, Chicago Marathon, L.A. Marathon, Lisbon, Rotterdam, Berlin, Oita, Japan, and most recently won the Push Rim Wheelchair division of the 2014 Beach to Beacon 10K—for the 9th time.

He’ll share his life experiences, including how he got into racing, what racing means to him, and how he’s inspired his son in the competitive cycling world.
